Naddoddr (Earth of The Snow)

This place

It is inscribed in the middle of the universe

This empty and desert place

This place without anybody

It gets lost in the ocean

And it twists his bosom

How a barbarian with hunger

And I, Naddoddr*,

Viking without parents

I find in him my real cover

My first home of ice and water:

I baptize to

This place

"Earth of the snow"

This place

That speaks without anybody.

*Naddoddr was a Faroese Viking (The Faroe Islands, "islands of lambs") who is credited with the discovery of Iceland. He named the place Snæland (Earth of the Snow).

Este lugar

*Naddoddr fue un vikingo feroés (Las Islas Feroe , "islas de corderos") que descubrió Islandia y la nombró el lugar Snæland (Tierra de la Nieve).
